Journey through the city’s quieter streets and where it all started for Norwich – and discover a well-kept secret at the end!

Come and explore ‘Norwich Over the Water’ with the Matriarchs, Mayors and Merchants Tour. Discover more about characters from the past and step inside a hidden gem – a 16th century merchant’s house. 

Starting outside St Clement’s Church, Colegate and finishing at Anteros on Fye Bridge Street, this 90 minute walking tour will take you on a voyage of discovery around the streets where it all began for our city. 

Packed with stories of prominent figures and industries that put Norwich on the map, we will weave our way through some of the city’s quieter historic streets before exploring a beautifully restored 16th century merchant’s house that was a well-kept secret until the late 1980’s.

This is one of our shorter walking tours at 0.7 miles long but unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible due to the steps within the merchant’s house.
